What is identity? What is a feeling of belonging to a community, a country, or a culture? Opening onto the self and the other, the notion of sharing and exchange that it implies, are at the heart of Rulfo’s research conducted in conjunction with his creative work and his curatorial practice.
“Perhaps identity is a more personal, intimate matter, a more subtly affective subject: the possibility of deciding for oneself to open onto the world. We choose our friends in order to be also chosen by them. Choosing, sharing, that’s what being an exhibition curator is about and what being an artist is about.”
Invited to FRAC Lorraine as an artist-in-residence (2011), Rulfo is going to preside over an exhibition Mundos Nomades of FRAC Lorraine works shown in 2011 at the Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales in Montevideo, Uruguay.
